My advice: For a small team, Free is often enough to start. If you want to create invoices and have hours approved, Standard costs € 5.49 per user per month when paid yearly. Pro at € 7.99 per user per month when paid yearly is needed for scheduling, expenses, profit per project and your own data region. Prices exclude VAT.

Clockify starts free. The free plan gives a small team unlimited time tracking, with a timer, timesheet and reports. If you want more, such as invoicing, approval or scheduling, you choose a paid plan per user. So what you pay depends on which features you really need.
Part of a larger family1 min
Clockify is owned by CAKE.com, which also makes Pumble and Plaky. According to CAKE.com, Clockify already had 1,000,000 registered users in 2019.
The basics are simple. You start a timer or fill in a timesheet, per project and task. A calendar view shows where your day went. There are mobile and desktop apps, plus a web version. Reports show how much time was logged per project, client or person.
The free plan for small teams1 min
The free plan is for up to 5 users. You track unlimited hours, with the timer, timesheet, calendar and reports, and use the apps. The main limitation: on the free plan, reports only go back 1 month.
For a freelancer or a small team that just wants to know where the time goes, that is often enough. As soon as you want to create invoices, have hours approved or schedule work, you need a paid plan.

Basic costs € 4.99 per user per month, or € 3.99 when paid yearly. It adds administration: importing users, hiding pages from regular users and editing multiple items at once.
Standard costs € 6.99 per user per month, or € 5.49 when paid yearly. This is where you get invoices and recurring invoices, time off, approval of hours and expenses, locking hours, attendance and overtime, and the QuickBooks integration.
Pro costs € 9.99 per user per month, or € 7.99 when paid yearly. Then you get activity tracking, scheduling, forecasting, expenses, labour costs and profit per project, budgets and GPS tracking. You also choose the region where your data is stored: the EU (Germany), the UK, the US or Australia. You can try Pro free for 7 days, without a credit card.
Enterprise costs € 14.99 per user per month, or € 11.99 when paid yearly. It adds SSO with SAML, Office 365, Okta or Google, a custom subdomain, logging in as a user and an audit log.
On the paid plans, every active or invited user counts as a paid seat, including the owner, admins and managers. Clockify does not refund anything when you cancel, except in the case of a system error. So only invite people who will actually log hours.
Kiosk, time off and attendance1 min
Clockify is not only aimed at office work. From Standard up, you can set up a kiosk: a shared device where employees clock in and out, for example with a QR code. That is useful for teams who do not work at a desk. For people who only clock in through such a kiosk, Clockify sells cheaper limited seats.
The same plan includes time off, attendance and overtime. That way you keep track in one app of who worked, how many hours and who was off. With targets and reminders, employees get a nudge when they forget to fill in their hours.
Scheduling and profit in Pro1 min
Pro is the plan for agencies and teams that want to steer by their hours. You schedule who works on which project and when, and make forecasts. With labour costs next to your hourly rates, you see per project whether it makes a profit. Budgets and estimates show whether a project stays within the agreed hours.
What to watch when choosing a plan1 min
The way Clockify is built means that one feature decides your plan. If you only want to create invoices, you are already on Standard. If you want your data in the EU, you need Pro, for everyone on your team. List in advance which features you really need, and then work out what that costs for your whole team.
Use the 7-day Pro trial to see which features you use. If you find you mainly need invoicing and approval, Standard is cheaper for you.
