My advice: For saving and organising links, Free is enough, even across several devices. Pro costs € 3.18 a month or € 29.74 a year and is worth it if you search back a lot or really want to preserve pages. That is where the web archive and full-text search make the difference.

Introduction1 min
A link you save today may no longer work in three years. Pages disappear, sites go offline, articles move to a new address. Raindrop.io tackles that with a simple promise: save something with Pro, and Raindrop keeps its own copy of the page. Around that sits a bookmark app that already does a lot for free.
A bookmark app without investors1 min
Raindrop.io has been around since 2013 and is made by Rustem Mussabekov from Astana in Kazakhstan. According to its own help pages, it is an independent product with no investors or parent company. It runs entirely on Pro subscriptions. There are no ads, no tracking and no data sales.
Your data is stored with Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt, in three copies spread across data centres. Raindrop can restore an earlier state from up to a year back. All the apps are open source on GitHub; the server is not.
What you get for free1 min
The free plan is generous. You save unlimited bookmarks and collections, on unlimited devices. You organise with nested collections and tags, and filter by type, tag or site. Highlights on pages are free, up to 100 per bookmark. Collaborating on a collection and making a collection public also work without paying.
There are apps for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, a web app and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. The Chrome extension also works in Arc, Vivaldi, Opera and Brave. There is no desktop app for Linux; there you use the web app or the extension.
You can upload files too, up to 100 MB per month on the free plan.
Pro: search everything and keep your own archive1 min
Pro mainly adds two things. The first is full-text search. Raindrop then searches not just the title and your tags, but the entire content of pages, PDFs and EPUBs. Since June 2026 that includes YouTube video transcripts, so you can find a video by a line someone said in it.
The second is the web archive. For every bookmark, Raindrop keeps a permanent copy, up to 70 MB each. If the page disappears, you still have the copy.
If you cancel Pro, you lose access to your web archive and the copies are deleted after about a month. Full-text search and automatic backups also stop. Export whatever you want to keep before you leave.
The archive has limits. Raindrop cannot archive pages behind a login, and video, audio and embedded frames are not included. There is no button to re-archive a page.
Pro also gives you reminders, notes on your highlights, a finder for duplicate bookmarks and a check for broken links. Raindrop makes a daily backup, which you can also have sent to Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. Your upload limit goes up to 10 GB per month.
Stella, the AI assistant1 min
Since February 2026, Pro has included an AI assistant called Stella. You ask questions about your library and have it summarise and organise bookmarks. Stella is still in beta. According to Raindrop, the assistant runs on its own servers, your data stays there and it is not used to train models. Since September 2026 Stella has used DeepSeek 4.1 Flash. If you want no AI, you can switch the assistant off completely.
If you want to connect Raindrop to other software, there is a REST API, a Zapier integration and an MCP server. Since June 2026 the MCP server also works on the free plan, so you can let ChatGPT or Claude search your bookmarks.

Leaving is easy too: you export your bookmarks as HTML, CSV or text, and your files as a ZIP.
